Job Description – Youth Pastor

This is a bi-vocational/part-time position whose regular hours are:

Sunday from 10am-12pm and 6pm-7pm

Wednesday from 6-7pm

With additional hours for meetings, events, and other duties throughout the week.

Qualifications:

· The Youth Pastor will meet the qualifications of a biblical elder as found in Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

· The Youth Pastor will hold beliefs that align with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as well as issues of concern for First Baptist Church Brooklyn.

· The Youth Pastor will be or agree to be ordained.

· The Youth Pastor will become a member of First Baptist Church of Brooklyn, MS upon acceptance of call.

· Preferred: the Youth Pastor will hold or be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in an area relevant to ministry.

· Preferred: the Youth Pastor will have prior experience serving in Youth Ministry.

· Preferred: the Youth Pastor will be or agree to be licensed.

Duties:

Teaching

· The Youth Pastor will coordinate the teaching ministry for grades 7-12; including, Youth Sunday School, Wednesday Evening Youth, and Sunday Evening Youth.

· The Youth Pastor will work with the Senior Pastor to develop a plan for continued education in order to understand current topics and trends in youth ministry.

Pastoral

· The Youth Pastor will provide counseling to youth and parents as necessary.

· The Youth Pastor will provide spiritual support and guidance to parents and guardians of the youth group as needed.

Administrative

· The Youth Pastor will guide the youth committee in ministering to the youth of the church.

· The Youth Pastor will coordinate youth fundraisers.

· The Youth Pastor will keep a record of student and parent contacts for individuals who are a part of the church youth group.

· The Youth Pastor will recruit, train, and delegate duties to youth parents and other stakeholders for assistance in weekly gatherings and special events.

· The Youth Pastor will attend pastoral staff meetings, monthly business meetings, youth committee meetings, executive committee meetings, and any other meetings deemed necessary for ministry with the youth and the church at large.

· The Youth Pastor will coordinate van ministry, meals, and other necessary components of youth ministry as needed.

Fellowship

· The Youth Pastor will coordinate at least one youth event or activity each month.

· The Youth Pastor will plan at least one summer camp for the youth group.

Outreach

· The Youth Pastor will conduct and coordinate visits and evangelistic outreach for the youth of the church and community.

· The Youth Pastor will support youth in their extracurricular events and achievements as possible.

Worship

· The Youth Pastor will give church announcements and read the scripture reading each Sunday morning.

· The Youth Pastor will serve as pulpit supply for the Senior Pastor in the event of his absence as needed.

· The Youth Pastor will aid the Senior Pastor in service and ministry to the church as deemed necessary.

Other Duties

· The Youth Pastor will be present to support other ministries and events of the church outside the scope of youth ministry as possible.

· The Youth Pastor may have other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or the Personnel Committee.

Supervision:

· The Youth Pastor will be directly supervised by the Senior Pastor who will give regular updates and reports to the Personnel Committee.

· The Personnel Committee will oversee matters of pay, benefits, and yearly evaluations.
